In October 2009 Raw Canvas and Diy Womp organised an exhibition at Tate Modern. For the exhibition they asked artists to respond to the theme ‘Deconstruction/ Reconstruction’. Old picture books were deconstructed to create this illustration which explores how Globalization has deconstructed traditional culture in major western cities and reconstructed it to include worldwide influences. The result is an intricate, messy, cross-stitch pattern of cultures.
